Vantage Building Control’s annual summer team away day
At Vantage Building Control, we are committed to our values and strengthening teamwork. We recently hosted an unforgettable summer team away day in Essex. Our team away day is a great opportunity to bring together the entire team from across our three offices to catch-up, meet in person and have fun!
The day kicked off with an informative business update, and breakfast at the Honey Pot to fuel us up for a full day of activities. We then ventured to the first of two activities to compete in a Go-Karting extravaganza! The team had varying degrees of experience in the karting world, so once we were all kitted out with helmets and overalls, we went through a pre-race briefing.
Once the briefing was completed, we started off with some practice laps to learn the circuit and get to grips with our karts before beginning with qualifying. This was a 10-minute session where we were competing to try and achieve the fastest lap time for pole position for the main ‘grand-prix’. The qualifying saw us go head-to-head with each other with Chris achieving the fastest lap and pole position on the grid.
We then returned to the pits for some refreshments, and to analyse our times, before heading back out onto the track for our ‘grand-prix’ session. The marshals organised us in grid order, and we then set off again with the objective of completing as many laps as we could! After an energetic, and fiercely competitive grand-prix the results were in, Chris was crowned go-karting champion followed by Russ and then Tony.
Once the racing was over, we headed onto our second activity of the day, an exhilarating afternoon battling it out on the inflatable obstacle course at the Festival Aqua Park. The floating inflatable obstacle course had a variety of challenges, including climbing walls, trampolines, and balance beams which made it the ultimate afternoon out.
When we arrived, we went to be safety briefed and get sized up for our life jackets. It soon became clear there was no way we were going to finish the course without falling in and being drenched!
The inflatable obstacle course saw us collaborating with our teammates, working together to conquer the course helping each other onto the next obstacle desperately trying not to slip over, and fall back into the water, not surprisingly, all participants did, at some point, end up in the water!
After an energetic hour of laughter and fun, we headed on to The Bell Inn for our overnight stay. After a well-deserved rest, the team gathered again for drinks, and a delicious three course dinner which allowed us time to chat, relax and reflect on the fantastic day we’d spent together.
